Promise of marital happiness, circa 1760-1770 Folded fan, the leaf in skin, mounted in English, and painted with gouache. A couple dressed in antique style exchange an oath under the gaze of many lovers symbolizing the promises of their union. Two of them hold an anchor symbol of hope, while others hold two birds beaking each other, a dog symbol of fidelity, and a beehive representing concord. Couples of loves in bistre color in medallions on the sides. On the reverse side, a seated dog, symbol of fidelity, looks at a couple of doves placed on the altar of Love. White mother-of-pearl frame pierced, engraved and gilded with garlands of flowers. H.t. 28,5 cm-H.f. 13,5 cm (good condition, small stains, small lack)
