David and Abigail, ca. 1750-1760 Folded fan, the double sheet in painted skin of the meeting of David and Abigail offering him food. Rare representation on a fan of a dwarf in the style of Jacques Callot's "Gobbi", reminiscent of the jesters of the court of the Grand Duke Como de Medici in Florence. Camels and soldiers illustrate the sides. On the reverse, the meeting of a soldier in armor and a woman, goddess or queen. Rare ivory mount*, of Chinese origin, pierced, carved and enhanced in colors with decoration of merchants on the road. H.t. 29 cm-H.f. 14,2 cm (missing rivet, wear, enlarged leaf).
