Venus watches over the sleeping Adonis, circa 1760 Folded fan, the leaf in skin, painted with gouache, and mounted in English style. The sleeping hunter among the loves is watched over by the goddess Venus descended from her chariot to caress him. Reverse painted in the Chinese taste of two characters in a garden among branches of cherry trees in bloom. Very finely cut, pierced, carved and engraved ivory* mounting in the Chinese taste.
