Apollo protects the arts, circa 1750 Folded fan, the leaf made of skin, lined with paper, and painted with gouache of a large view of a palace opened on a triumphal arch. On a cloud, Apollo appears surrounded by nymphs. Holding his lyre, he offers a laurel wreath to the Arts represented by a woman presenting a portrait to illustrate Painting, and a second holding a mallet for Sculpture. Near them, sculpted busts, painters' palettes and musicians' loves. On a pillar is inscribed "à Polond Protège les ars (sic)" [Apollo protects the arts]. Reverse: a couple in the countryside with two maids. White mother-of-pearl frame, engraved, gilded and silvered. In the center, loves hold a bird, with military trophies on both sides. On the reverse, the motifs of the face are repeated. H.t. 30 cm-H.f. 13,6 cm (very good condition, small accident to the leaf, restorations)
