Aeneas appearing in Dido's palace, ca. 1740-1750 Folded fan, the double sheet in skin painted with gouache after the work of Antoine Coypel (1661- 1722). Aeneas and his faithful Achate on the right appear before Dido enthroned in her palace. Border of flowers. Reverse side painted with flowers on the border and in the center, in the taste of the Indians, underlined with gold. Mounting in ivory* very finely pierced, carved, engraved and gilded. In the center, geometrical motifs in a mandorla are surrounded by hunting dogs running, bunches of fruit and flute players back to back. H.t. 28 cm-H.f. 12,5 cm (stains, wear)
