Telemachus and Calypso, ca. 1730 Folded fan, the double gouache-painted sheet of Telemachus under Calypso's spell. Zephyr covers them with flowers while Love is about to shoot an arrow. Companions are laying down baskets of fruit while Mentor, with a white beard, seems to be asleep. On the reverse, pilgrims are sharing a lunch of oysters. Mounted in pierced ivory*, carved and engraved with baskets of fruit and a shepherdess in the center. A young woman holding a fan is carved on the plumes, enhanced with white mother-of-pearl plates. H.t. 31 cm-H.f. 17,3 cm (small lack, restorations, wear)
