VISIT OF KING LOUIS-PHILIPPE TO EU. Copy of letters addressed to King Louis-Philippe and to the Duke of Nemours, dated from April 1842 to April 30, 1842, 6 pages written on a notebook by Abbé Léger, chaplain of the hospice in the municipal archives of the city of Eu in 1907. Handwritten text in French. Text : "(...) Each year your Majesty comes to honour with his august presence the inhabitants of Eu, of which the undersigned, members of the town council, are the representatives and the organs. That is to say that each year your Majesty extends on them new benefits. (...) The Event answered the wish expressed by the inhabitants of the city of Eu: yesterday, 28th, Her Royal Highness Madame the Duchess of Nemours gave birth to a Prince, and Her Majesty, liking to give a new testimony of her benevolence to a city which she likes, wanted that the young prince carried the name of the count of Eu. (...) The inhabitants of this town, whose happiness rests on the protection of His Majesty and on the kindnesses of Your Royal Highness, have learned with joy of the new benefit which gives their town an additional lustre..."
