THE SLEEP OF ENDYMION, CA. 1770-1780. Folded fan, skin sheet mounted in English style, and painted of an undergrowth where Endymion has fallen asleep. Guided by a love, and carried by a cloud, Diana the Huntress, wearing a crescent moon, approaches. On the reverse, a young woman in a landscape. White mother-of-pearl mounting, engraved and gilded with a gallant offering a rose to the one he loves, under the aegis of love. H.t. 27,4 cm/ H.f. 12,6 cm (good condition, wear and small rest. to the plume).
