The Butterfly, ca. 1740-1750 Folded fan, the leaf in skin, mounted in English and painted on a gray background of six cartels including still lifes, landscapes in shades of brown or blue. In the center, a gallant teases a young peasant girl. Reverse side painted in shades of brown and garnet of a still life, a basket of flowers, and a harbor landscape. Original ivory mount* finely cut, carved and engraved. In the center, a butterfly with spread wings, decorated with flowers, separates two medallions of Chinese inspiration. H.t. 28,5 cm-H.f. 13 cm (stains, accidents, restorations)
