Large double shawl collar in Blonde de Caen, spindles, circa - Lot 300
Large double shawl collar in Blonde de Caen, spindles, circa 1820-40. Double shawl collar with drooping sides of rare rectangular shape, in cream-coloured silk lace and decorated with a frieze of blossoming flowers and foliage worked in grid stitches and cloth, all along the border, branches with the same flowers and foliage decorating each side. Dim. 2,50 m x 68 cm laid flat (good condition, some small accidents, some stains, freckles on the neckline) The Blonde de Caen was very fashionable in France during the first half of the 19th century and this shawl collar is a fine example of this fashionable costume accessory.
