Panel with the arms of John Coquerill, Belgium and Liege, 19th century. Long panel divided into three parts and representing respectively: in the centre the arms of Belgium with the motto "L'Union Fait la Force", on the right the arms of the province of Liege, and on the left the arms of John Coquerill with the motto "Courage to the last". Great Belgian-British industrialist of the 19th century, John Coquerill played a decisive role in the mechanization of the European wool industry and was later the founder of the Coquerill-Sambre company located in the town of Seraing next to Liège, a great European iron and steel group and one of the most important industrial complexes in Belgium throughout the 19th century. In hand-woven linen embroidered with plumetis and threads spread out and linked by an embroidered net interlacing, framed by a small spindle border. Dim. 1,20 m x 40 cm (good condition, a small recovery, slight halo)
