Turned wooden spindles and a Gèdre stone, 19th and 20th cent - Lot 30
Turned wooden spindles and a Gèdre stone, 19th and 20th century. Nice set of about one hundred and ten spindles for bobbin lace, from various countries and regions, some with their celluloid thread protectors, in various woods, fruit, boxwood, beech, etc..... turned by hand, some engraved or painted, a small spindle in glass paste (good condition for most of the spindles) We enclose a stone from Gèdre, a town in the Hautes Pyrénées. This stone was used to rub the spindles to make them smoother and more slippery. It was only used in Puy en Velay (nice patina)
