Rare cartel of wall lamp in chased, gilded or blue lacquered - Lot 186
Rare cartel of wall lamp in chased, gilded or blue lacquered bronze. In the shape of a vase flanked by winged female figures, it is surmounted by a large knot articulated on a bélière; the cul-de-lampe in the shape of a terrace with a laurel torus, acanthus leaves and pine cone. The dial, inscribed in a pearled bezel, is signed "Henry Voisin" and indicates the hours in Roman numerals and the minutes in Arabic numerals. Louis XVI period (slight wear and tear to the varnish). H: 80 cm - L: 37 cm. An album kept at the Institut national d'Histoire de l'Art in Paris contains the preparatory drawing of this rare cartel, in which the name of the bronze smith who created the model is indicated, a certain "Brécourt" (illustrated in H. Ottomeyer and P. Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, Band I, Munich, 1986, fig.4.1.8). One copy, with the dial signed Gille, which is kept at the Musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris.
