TRAVEL NECESSARY OF THE DUCHESSE D'AUMALE, AUCOC AÎNÉ, PARIS, CIRCA 1850.
Composed of 27 elements in cut crystal and vermeil mountings, including a clothes brush, two hair brushes, three square flasks, five powder boxes, three mirrors, two inkwells, a kettledrum, a teapot (missing its handle) and its stove, and eight boxes Chiseled and engraved decoration with a border of fine flutes enhanced with acanthus leaves, decorated in the center with the engraved covenant arms of the Royal Houses of Orleans and Bourbon-Siciles under a ducal crown on a bitter background and decorated with stylized scrolls surrounded by a laurel branch and a branch of roses. Small accidents to some elements, but good condition.
Title mark : 1er titre, Paris, circa 1850.

Provenance : this set was made for the wife of Prince Henri d'Orléans (1822-1897), Duke of Aumale, born Princess Marie-Caroline de Bourbon-Siciles (1822-1869). The Domaine Royal de Randan owns the box that contained the above items, referenced under the inventory number: Ass2013-11.
History: Louis Aucoc, known as the Elder, was at the head of the family business from 1850 until the middle of the 1870s, a period during which the factory, located at 4 and 6 rue de la Paix, developed while diversifying and became one of the official suppliers to the courts of France and Europe.
