SERVICE DU PAVILLON DE BRETEUIL, FOR THE TABLE OF KING LOUIS - Lot 218
SERVICE DU PAVILLON DE BRETEUIL, FOR THE TABLE OF KING LOUIS-PHILIPPE. Hard porcelain plate, "Peyre" shape with lobed contours, decorated in the middle with a gold openwork rosette surrounded by a gold frieze. The border (the wing) is alternated with polychrome flower garlands, held by gold arabesque motifs. Slight wear of the time to the gilding, but good general condition. Work of Sevres, bearing a mark of Sevres painted later. Hollow mark of the turner: Adolphe Carré, active from 1823 to 1861. Diameter: 23 cm. History: this service, originally called "white background, groups of coloured flowers", was ordered by King Louis-Philippe for the Pavillon de Breteuil on June 26, 1846, and then delivered in two stages during 1847. By its shape it recalls the royal table services under King Louis XV and is the only one of this shape for the table of King Louis-Philippe.
