The Dionne Sisters, circa 1934-1936 - Cardboard hand screen - Lot 171
The Dionne Sisters, circa 1934-1936 - Cardboard hand screen printed with five little girls playing on the beach. The Dionne sisters shown here are the first quintuplets to reach adulthood. Born in Corbeil, Ontario in May 1934, they were quickly placed under state guardianship. They were "exhibited" in full view of visitors (6,000 per day) and objects derived from them were used to keep a souvenir of this visit. This screen is probably part of this "merchandising". Wooden handle.
