Francisque Poulbot, Souvenir fan, 1944 Rare folded fan, a printed sheet of paper of a little girl in a Phrygian bonnet giving the bottle to a baby, holding a windmill in her hand, evocation of Montmartre and the children of the mound, the "Poulbot" who made the cartoonist famous. The artist, Francisque Poulbot (1879-1946), poster artist and illustrator, is famous for his street kids called "poulbots". He dedicated this fan in black ink in the upper right-hand corner "chez Adrienne/ 15 August 1944", the date of the Allied landings in Provence, followed by the "Poulbot" autograph. Reverse side silent. Purple stained wood frame. Belairian. H.t. 27.2 cm (worn)
