Panel with the arms of John Coquerill, Belgium and Liege, 19th century. Long panel divided into three parts and representing respectively: in the center the arms of Belgium with the motto "L'Union Fait la Force", on the right the arms of the province of Liege, and on the left the arms of John Coquerill with the motto "Courage to the last". John Coquerill, a major Belgian-British industrialist of the 19th century, played a decisive role in the mechanisation of the European textile wool industry and was later the founder of the Coquerill-Sambre company, located in the town of Seraing next to Liège, a major European steel group and one of the most important industrial complexes in Belgium throughout the 19th century. Made of linen hand embroidered with plumetis and spread threads and connected by an embroidered net in-between, framed by a small bobbin border. Dim. 1,20 m x 40 cm (good condition, a small resumption, slight halo)
