Christening dress, Ayrshire embroidery, mid 19th century. Long presentation dress or baptism dress in linen, short sleeves and bib bodice embroidered with a mirror pattern: large central medallion under a basket full of flowers and foliage, bunches of grapes on either side, falling garlands of flowers and foliage, skirt with two flat ruffles falling harmoniously on either side of a large embroidery at the bottom of the skirt and using the same decoration as the bodice. (good condition, rare very small stains on the skirt). See "Baby wore white" Mrs Heather Toomer.
