Van Garden, The Kingfisher, ca. 1900 Folded fan, balloon shape, the silk leaf painted with a kingfisher swooping towards a pond. Signed "Van Garden" on the right. Reverse side painted with the large coats of arms of the royal families of Bavaria on the left and Portugal on the right, under double royal crown. It could be the duchess Marie-Josépha of Portugal (1857-1943), wife of Charles Théodore in Bavaria (1839-1909), parents of Elisabeth (1876-1965), queen of the Belgians. Signed by the Parisian house of Duvelleroy. Blonde horn mounting, serpentine, enhanced with steel spangles. Chain to the rim.
