Thermometer, circa 1880-1890 Rare folded fan, with scientific curiosity, the leaf in green cotton painted with a man guiding a young woman on a pier, in the taste of Lucie Boillat. Reverse side, with an inscription in pencil. Honey-coloured wooden frame, the plumes varnished. A Réaumur thermometer inlaid in the plume. Engraving "GEBR. RODECK WIEN" for the fan house of the Rodeck brothers in Vienna. Metal hanger and tassel of trimmings. H.t. 33,5 cm-H.f. 20,5 cm (good condition) NB in France also a model of fan integrating a thermometer is patented by L.-E. Rabiet in 1879. Read M. Volet, "L'imagination au service de l'éventail.
