Spirit of Japan, 1887 Fan, the leaf alternating folds in silk and midnight blue leather. Punches "AF" for the London office, letter date for 1887. The plumes in silver (925e) gilded in two tones cut, and engraved with fan leaves, hand screens and bamboo branches with in relief a fly, a frog, a ladybird and a spider recalling the Japanese work of inlay or "shibayama". And monogrammed three times "RL". One engraved on the field ""41 St James's st. London JONES 23 Bd des Capucines Paris", for the manufacturer Thomas Jones, specialist in leather goods, mounted in gold or silver. He was present at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1878.
