M. Necker ou l'espoir de la France, circa 1788-1789 Fan of broken type in cut wood, and decorated with an engraving heightened in colors. Mention of the Parisian engraver "Lebeau fecit" on the left. Under the features of a crowned woman, wearing a blue mantle strewn with fleur-de-lis, and leaning on a naval anchor, symbol of Hope, France presents the portrait of Jacques Necker (1732-1804), after Duplessis (circa 1781). Minister of Finance under King Louis XVI, Necker was called to power several times on the eve of the Revolution, and helped to convene the Etats-Généraux. He returned to office one last time after the storming of the Bastille. H.t. 28 cm (restorations, broken ribbon)
