The Centaurs, Italy, circa 1770-1780 Fan leaf, known as the "Grand Tour", in cream-coloured skin painted with a decoration inspired by the frescoes of Pompeii framing three cartels. On the sides, Centaurs and Maenads from the frescoes of Cicero's villa in Pompeii (now in the archaeological museum of Naples). In the centre, love illuminating Angelica busy engraving the name of her lover Medor. H.f. 14 cm (when seen) In a modern frame in the shape of a gilded rod. Under glass. W. 30 cm x H. 57 cm
