Bouquet and trompe-l'œil of lace, circa 1760 Fan, the paper-lined skin sheet very finely painted with a trompe-l'oeil lace interlude covering a jumble of drawings and engravings. In the centre, a butterfly lands on a bouquet against a background of ancient ruins. On the left, the "Signore Spinette" and Harlequin with a leather mask from the Commedia dell'arte. On the right, in trompe l'oeil, a fly has landed on the lace. Flowers on the reverse. Very finely pierced, carved, engraved and gilded ivory* mount with a gallant subject.
