Le carnaval ou la promenade des masques, circa 1760 Folded fan, the leaf in skin, mounted in English, and painted with gouache on a pink background of a conversation of four villagers in a country setting. On the reverse, fountain and tree in brown monochrome. Ivory mount* with the original decoration of a carnival cavalcade on a metallic guilloché background. On the boulevards of Paris, a carriage carries on its roof Harlequin and Pierrot. On the sides, a woman is pulling wine barrels, announcing the party. The sculpted plumes of a mask and musical instruments surmounted by Harlequin recognizable by his colourful costume. On the reverse, the labels are painted with flowers in shades of pink or blue. H.t. 27,2 cm H.f. 12,5 cm (small restorations)
