Le jeu de pied de bœuf, circa 1740-1750 A folded fan known as "full flight", opening to 180 degrees. The skin sheet, lined with paper, painted with gouache, after the work of Bernard Picart (1709). In a country setting, with a river on the left and grape-pickers on the right, a group of people are playing a game of ox-foot, each one putting his hand on the other's. Rich borders of flowers, birds and musical instruments. A forget-me-not merchant, on the reverse side, offers a wafer rolled into a cone to a young shepherdess. Mounted in carved, sculpted, engraved, matt and glossy gilded ivory*. The cartels lined with burgau plate, with a gallant subject. The plumes carved with an ancient soldier in armour and helmet.
