The Joy of the Bride, ca. 1720-1730 Folded fan, the wallpaper sheet of a joyful gathering in a garden. In the centre, a young woman dressed in white focuses the eyes of her companions. Around them, villagers and lovers are dancing and enjoying themselves. A love in the air seems to be guided by two flaming hearts. On the right, an ancient temple. Reverse: shearing of a sheep. Ivory frame* pierced and inlaid with vases and engraved mother-of-pearl birds. Birds, butterflies around a house on the sides. The plumes are lined with white mother-of-pearl, delicately engraved with Bérain-style decorations.
