Justice, ca. 1700-1720 Folded fan, the leaf in skin, mounted in English and painted with gouache. Justice personified in the center tilts her scales. Families arrive from the left, while scientists use measuring instruments including a compass, a spyglass and a sextant. Reverse side with a bouquet of flowers with tulips and roses. Ivory mount*, the throat engraved with a bamboo scene and baskets of flowers and fruits. The plumes carved with a nude woman, and enhanced with a white mother-of-pearl plate engraved with a flower. Work in silver piqué. H.t. 25,5 cm-H.f. 14 cm (restorations, wear)
