The silk trade, China, 18th century Rare folded fan, the leaf made of skin-lined paper and painted with gouache. In pavilions opening onto a garden, workers are busy harvesting silk cocoons. In the foreground, a merchant attends the weighing of his order. Reverse side painted with a large bouquet of flowers. Finely cut ivory frame*, engraved on both sides with geometric motifs and floral cartels. The plumes adorned with engraved white mother-of-pearl plates. H.t. 30 cm H.f. 17 cm (cuts, wear, stains)
