ATTRIBUÉ À JEAN-BALTHAZAR DE LA TRAVERSE - CIRCA 1790 Rinaldi Pavilion seen from the Neva side. Watercolour on paper, glued and preserved in a frame with gilded chopsticks. Under the marie-louise is a handwritten inscription in French identifying the place. Freckles, but good general condition. At sight: H.: 23 cm - W.: 34 cm. Frame: H.: 36 cm - L.: 46.5 cm. History: In 1743 Baron Sergei Grigorievich Stroganoff acquired a house, outbuildings and a garden facing Kammeny Island in St . Petersburg (located between the large and small Neva rivers) and the Krestovka River. In 1754, he commissioned the Italian architect Antonio Rinaldi (1710-1794) to build a yachting lodge on the banks of the Neva River, which was named after its builder, Srigorievitch Stroganoff.
