NICOLAS ALEXANDROVITCH, heir grand duke, future Tsar Nicholas II of Russia (1868-1918). Photographic portrait signed by Serge Levitsky (1819-1898) in Saint Petersburg, representing the young Grand Duke in officer's uniform of the Imperial Russian Army, with at the bottom of the document his autograph signature in Cyrillic characters: "Nicholas, August 3, 1886, in memory of Krasnoye - Selo 1879", preserved in a modern frame with a large gilded rod. Albuminized print mounted on cardboard, cabinet format. Good condition. Frame: H.: 32 cm - W.: 25, 5 cm. Provenance: former collection of Prince Max of Baden (1867-1929) and his wife, née Marie-Louise of Hanover (1879-1948), London sale November 2002.
