Marie-Antoinette, dauphine of France (1755-1793).
Bust in gilt bronze, resting on a column base in stained wood ending on a square base, representing the young princess posing with her head turned to the right, curly hair and wearing a coat knotted on the front. This model is similar to the original version sculpted in agate by the artist after the bust of Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne. Bears on the back the inscription: "Engraved by Glachant 1774".
Slight wear and tear over time, but good general condition.
French work from the end of the 19th century.

History: the original of this charming composition executed in 1774 was presented to the queen in Marly on June 23rd 1774. The following year the artist, executed the bust of the king as a pendant. He exhibited them at the Salon du Colisée in 1776, then at the Salon de la Correspondance in 1781. On March 22, 1782 they both appear at the sale of the estate of Glachant. Some ancient replicas like ours were executed in bronze.
