ROBERT, prince d'Orléans, duc de Chartres (1840-1910) Set of 11 L.A.S.: "R. d'Orléans", addressed to Count Paul Laffleur de Kermaingant (1843-1920), dating from 1886 to 1908, various formats, some letters are on letterheads on behalf of the Prince's various residences: Saint-Firmin and Ennismore Garden. A large envelope with a red wax seal is attached to the prince's coat of arms and two business cards printed in the prince's name with handwritten annotations in his hand. Text in French, 16 pages. See illustration on page 95. Text: - Brussels, January 19, 1887: "While crossing Paris, I found on my table rue Jean Goujon two magnificent volumes that you were kind enough to put on it. I want to thank you immediately and tell you how much pleasure it gives me to read the history of an era that I love so much, of an embassy in a country that I know perhaps... too much, but which interests me very much finally to see all these literary works so well written and collected by you (...)" - Saint-Firmin, September 19, 1901: "We are, the Duchess of Chartres and I are very touched by the good sympathy that you have given us so much proof of during our son's illness and since his unfortunate end. You knew Henri well, that's all to say (...)" - Saint-Firmin, October 29, 1902: "I rarely go to Paris at the moment. I do not hunt with my neighbors. But I organize small hunts and you would do me the pleasure by coming here on Thursday, November 6, by the 9 am train. We would have time to talk and I also invite Aubrey-Vitet. (...)" - Saint-Firmin, September 29, 1905: "Your so good letter causes us the greatest pleasure and we associate you wholeheartedly with the joy that causes you all, the engagement of your daughter, Miss Yvonne with Mr. Xavier de Villeneuve-Bargemont, captain of the cavalry. I send you all my best and most sincere wishes for their happiness.
