COIGNARD Jean-Baptiste Dictionary of the Académie Françoise, dedicated to the King, printed in Paris, 1718 (2nd edition), 2 volumes: volume 1 (922 pages), volume 2 (820 pages), gilt edges, contemporary red calfskin binding with a coat of arms in the centre of each plate under the crown with the arms of the alliance of Philippe duc d'Orléans (1674-1723) and his wife Françoise-Marie de Bourbon known as the Second Mademoiselle de Blois (1677-1749), legitimated daughter of Louis XIV and Madame de Montespan, back with six nerves decorated with floral motifs, title in gold letters, folio format, illustrated in frontispiece with an intaglio engraving representing an allegory to the glory of Louis XIV engraved by Mariette and Edelinck after Jean-Baptiste Corneille and an unsigned allegorical vignette on the title pages, a band engraved by Audran after Coypel at the head of the dedication, an allegorical vignette engraved after Jean-Baptiste Corneille by Mariette and Edelinck on the first page of each volume.
