Turned wood and cedar stone spindles, 19th and 20th century. Beautiful set of about one hundred and ten bobbins for bobbin lace, from various countries and regions, some with their thread protectors in celluloid, various woods, fruit, boxwood, beech, etc... turned by hand, some engraved or painted, a small spindle in glass paste (beautiful condition for most of the bobbins) We join a stone from Gèdre, a town in the Hautes Pyrénées. This stone was used to rub the spindles to make them smoother and more slippery. It was only used in Le Puy en Velay (beautiful patina of use) Collection of 109 wooden bobbins, some engraved, and one bobbin of glass (good condition for most of the items. With a special stone from " Gèdre " a city from the French Pyrénées mountains, this stone was used in the " Le Puy en Velay " city from the French Auvergne atea, in order to smooth the wooden bobbins. 19th & 20th cent.
