Rare folded fan, Chantilly, spindles, Bayeux, circa 1850-60. The leaf in Chantilly lace, shaded with a very fine bobbin, grenadine silk, lined with cream gauze. Mirror composition, in the centre two small basins with a large bouquet of flowers and fine branches under an arcature decorated with fine garlands of foliage and held by three Ionic columns on the sides, on either side of the ruins nestling in a grove and topped with Medici vases, silhouette of poplars on the horizon, bunches of rushes and water lily leaves, frieze with a semi-medallion of fish scale and small scalloped leaves along the edge. Faceted brown tortoiseshell frame*. Gold 750 thousandth number and bélière, eagle's head punch on the bélière, gross weight 152 g. Black trimming pompom. (good condition, very ptts acc. to the lace network, four strands glued back to the frame) * Scale: Specimens made from the scales of marine turtles, Cheloniidae spp (I/A-CE), specimen known as pre-convention specimen prior to 01/06/1947 (EC Rule 338/97 of 9 Dec. 1996 art. 2 -W mc). Frame height: 29 cm. Leaf height: 15,5 cm. (beautiful state)
