Folded fan with birds and butterflies, application from England, circa 1880-90. The leaf in light lace with charming decoration, the motifs delicately made with bobbins and applied on a fine cotton tulle, laid on a duck blue silk, ivory-coloured silk reverse. In the centre is a bird of paradise on a perch with a ribbon tied with on either side, two supple lianas with flowers and volubilis, supported by two small butterflies. Farther in the mirror, two small doves in full flight, each holding a sealed letter in their beak. Frieze of flowers and foliage along the edge, sowing of small circles. (good condition, slight freckles on the rim, spots and rocket silk on the reverse) Ivory frame* Height of frame: 27 cm Height of leaf: 13.5 cm. (good condition, missing the stone from the back to the shore) * Ivory: specimen known as pre-convention prior to 01/06/1947 (EC Rule 338/97 of 9 Dec. 1996 art. 2-W mc).
