Rare folded fan, Alençon, needle, early 20th century. Alençon lace needlework leaf decorated with a supple sheaf of flowers, roses in full bloom worked in shadow and in the spirit of the roses with petals detached from the gauze point, anemones, forget-me-nots, foliage and flowers, leaves in flexible curves and small cartouches decorated with various modes on the edge. Cream cotton, horsehair on the edge. Blonde tortoiseshell frame and belly*. Frame height: 25 cm. Leaf height: 13 cm. (very nice condition) In a box covered with cream satin marked in gold "CHANTEAU Joaillier ALENCON" in the lid and "POINT d'ALENCON" on the edge. * Scale: Specimens made from the scales of marine turtles, Cheloniidae spp (I/A-EC), a so-called pre-Convention specimen prior to 1 June 1947 (EC Rule 338/97 of 9 December 1996 Art. 2 -W mc).
