Steering wheel at the Point de Gaze, needle, Belgium, 2nd half of the 19th century. Extremely finely crafted needlepoint lace with a well-structured decoration of two different motifs, a large cartouche with scrolls and fleurons, two bouquets of three florets with pearled hearts in the centre and on top, and well held by two large flowers blooming along the edge, alternating with a bouquet of three roses on a rectangular cartouche adorned with fashions and supporting three florets delicately festooned along the edge, a network of Point de Gauze sowed with very small rings along the upper edge. Light ivory cotton. Dim. 5,75 + 1,50 + 1,45 = 8,70 m x 12 cm (very nice condition) Deep border of handmade Belgian Point de Gaze very finely worked in needle point, dating from the 2nd half of the 19th c. Adorned with flowers in bloom and bouquets of roses. Cotton, light ivory colour (very good condition) Dim. 5,75 + 1,50 + 1,45 = 8,70 m x 12 cm
