Pair of beards embroidered in white, circa 1730-50. Made of fine cotton muslin with a floral decoration of soft branches and cartridges on the edge very finely needle-embroidered with various stitches in spread thread, some motifs in muslin applied to accentuate the design. Colour white/white-cream. (fine condition, one tiny cut) See "Embroidered with white" Ms. Heather Toomer, p.55 & 59. Pair of lappets of fine whitework on cotton muslin dating from about 1730-50.
