Rare spindle whorl, Milan, last quarter of the 17th century. In bobbin lace, mirror motifs of large exotic flowers and stylized foliage with a double cord emphasizing the contours and decorated with various stitches made with bobbins. Patterns connected by thin double pimpled flanges. Dark ivory linen. Dim. 1.40 m x 14 cm (good condition, later meshing and small lower edge). Provenance: Drouot, Paris, June 1983. Milanese border of bobbin lace with couched cord outlines, floral motifs and decorative fillings, dating from the last quarter of the 17th century. Linen thread, honey colour.
