TAKIS Vassilakus (1925-2019). Signal. Sculpture-volume, assembly of recycled metal objects, on oxidized iron rods resting on a painted steel base. Signed with the artist's monogram and with the artist's dedication on the base: "For Frederik with admiration, Takis". Slight oxidations, but good condition. H.: 130 cm. Provenance: this work was offered by the artist to the present owner. Biography: "Vassilakus Takis, born in Athens, created a pioneering body of sculpture, performance and sound pieces based on electromagnetism, a force that throughout his career has fascinated the artist. It was in Paris in 1955 that he created his first sculptures in the series "signals" vibrating in the wind. This series of works is composed of mobile metal rods springing from a solid base and topped with various industrial and technological fragments. Referring to natural and artificial antennas, which seem to communicate with their environment. Many of his works can be found in the most important museums in the world, such as the Georges Pompidou Centre in Paris.
