FORTON, Louis (1879-1934) L'AUDACE DES PIEDS NICKELÉS (1930) Indian ink and blue pencil for a page from the album L'audace des Pieds Nickelés published by the Société Parisienne d'Edition in 1930. The final 1949 reissue will be reissued in a version cut down to 14 plates, and with the addition of phylacteries instead of the text under the box. Patches and reassemblies. Colored pencil annotations. Signed lower right. Cartoonist and scriptwriter, pioneer of the European comic strip, Louis Forton is the creator of Pieds Nickelés and Bibi Fricotin. His popular characters, from the Parisian suburbs, will animate the pages of the weekly illustrated magazine l'Epatant from 1908 to 1934. Dimensions: 32.5 x 25 cm.
