The balloon flight, circa 1900 - Lot 280
The balloon flight, circa 1900 Fan of broken type in painted and varnished bone commemorating the aerostatic exploits of the 18th century. In the center, a view of Paris and the Pont-Neuf with the fountain of the Samaritaine. Onlookers are gathered to watch Charles and Robert's balloon pass by. On the left, small labels show the balloon in the countryside on June 5, 1783. On the right, a view reminds us of the balloon's flight in Versailles on November 20, 1783. On the reverse, a balloon with the coat of arms of France flying over a bay is greeted by people of quality at the foot of a castle. On the plume, small landscapes in miniature and a bust portrait of one of the Montgolfier brothers. H.t. 19 cm (small wear, small restorations)
