Violet mother-of-pearl, circa 1900 Folded fan, the cream silk leaf painted with a damsel sitting in the grass to compose a bouquet. Country trophies on both sides. The upper part of the strands is decorated with lace and mother-of-pearl festoons tinted purple. The reverse side painted with large golden scrolls enhanced with garlands of roses and flowers of ipomea framing a couple of doves. Goldfish mother-of-pearl mounting tinted purple. Metal hanger. The top of the strands bordering the upper part of the leaf. H.t. 23 cm - H.f. 11,7 cm (wear, cuts, restorations) N.B. : the dyeing of mother-of-pearl is a complex and expensive process which was implemented only for a few years in the workshops of Oise, at the end of the 19th century.
