Trade with the Indies, circa 1800 Folded fan, the double sheet of engraved paper enhanced with gouache. A woman, personification of a port city, sits under a portico, wearing a crown of ramparts. Behind her, a young woman holds a beehive, a sign of prosperity. Next to her, a cornucopia of gold coins is being poured out. They are visited by representatives of distant countries, evoking India, Asia and Africa. Each one offering gifts. Dumb reverse. Red lacquered bamboo frame with gold decoration of a Chinese pagoda, enhanced with mother-of-pearl. H.t. 26 cm - H.f. 15,5 cm (wear, restorations) Provenance: label with the reference 1886 of the former Henry-René d'Allemagne collection (1863-1950).
