The arrival of the messenger, China, 19th century Broken type fan made of ivory finely beaded and carved with scholars. Pavilions and vegetation compose a lively picture of scholars. A horseman approaches while peasants carry goods. In the center, a cartel is left blank, to receive the initials of its European owner. The top of the strands are carved with peasants, children, scholars and animals. The plumes carved with a dragon. H.t. 19 cm (restoration, and small missing parts)
