Ivory and tortoiseshell, China, ca. 1850 Folded fan, the double sheet of gouache-painted paper of palaces opening onto interior gardens and terraces. Twenty figures are depicted, all wearing silk garments in relief, and an ivory head. The reverse side is painted with bouquets of flowers in large woven baskets on a silver background. In the center, among bats, symbols of happiness, characters look at a warrior on a cloud. Mounting with alternating strands of ivory and brown tortoiseshell, pierced and engraved with gardens animated with characters. Bracket in silver. H.t. 26,3 cm - H.f. 11 cm (cuts, small lacks) In a black lacquered bamboo box with gilded decoration of a family in a garden.
