The marriage of Louis, dauphin of France and Marie-Antoinette, circa 1770 Folded fan, the skin sheet lined with paper, painted on a silver background celebrating the marriage at the Palace of Versailles of Marie-Antoinette and the future dauphin Louis XVI. In the center, Hymen unites their hands. The arms of France and Austria are shown on the left. Framing the scene, the portraits in medallion of Louis XV on the left and of François I, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire on the right. On the reverse: three bouquets of roses and blueberries. White mother-of-pearl frame pierced, engraved, gilded and silvered, inlaid with steel. Twisted columns and medallions with alternating vases, trophies and animals. H.t. 24 cm-H.F. 9.5 cm (wear and restoration)
